7 Ways to Slow Down and Remember on Memorial Day

7 Ways to Slow Down and Remember on Memorial Day

May 18th 2021

We are honored to remember those on Memorial Day that gave so much. Take a look at a few ways we invite you to participate.

Memorial Day will likely include updates from months past, funny stories from recitals and soccer games, and most importantly, words and actions to honor those who have sacrificed for our personal freedom.

Although everyone has their own special Memorial Day traditions, we thought we would share a few of our favorites.

~ Set a reminder for 3 PM on Memorial Day, to take a moment of silence in honor of those who served and lost their lives for our freedom.

~ Send a special care package to a troop! Service Members often comment about how these packages truly do make a difference. Serving as a reminder of who and why they sacrifice so much, they often show up at just the right time.

~ Wear red, white, and blue or an American Flag pin.

~ Learn the story of one American Hero and share it with someone.

~ Make a donation or send a card to an organization that works with families who have lost a loved one while serving. Known as a Gold Star Families, there are a few organizations that help support them through counseling and support.

~ Bake an American Flag Cheesecake! While there are many recipes floating around, we’re partial to this one.

~ Send a letter to a deployed soldier. Better yet, coordinate to write letters with those you are spending time with this weekend. Make it part of your celebration. For even greater success, make it a competition to see how many letters you can get written!

We hope the opportunity to enjoy time with family and friends brings lots of joy to your heart!
