Looking for your next work of fiction? Our resident bibliophile, Nicole, recommends “A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World” by C.A. Fletcher – a dystopian novel that’s not only heartfelt and emotional, but also one that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

In this edition of Nicole’s Book Club, we review the dystopian fiction novel, A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World by C.A. Fletcher.

This book tells the story of Griz, a boy who has grown up in a world surrounded by almost no one. While he’s heard stories from his parents and seen photos in books about how populated Earth used to be, he’s “not met enough people in his life to play a game of football.” Since it’s the only existence he’s ever known, Griz doesn’t find life on the island with his family – and their dogs – lonely. But when a thieving stranger suddenly appears, the boy is forced into an adventure beyond his wildest dreams.

While reading this novel, Nicole felt like The Grandson near the end of The Princess Bride, eagerly awaiting each new chapter of the story.

“It was so simple, yet the emotion captured spoke so true of the human experience. I was absolutely lost in this story,” Nicole reflects. “The perseverance and determination were profound.”

The book is both suspenseful and heart-wrenching, spinning an imaginative tale that captures many faces of humanity in a post-apocalyptic world.

Nicole loved it so much, she wishes she could read it for the first time all over again.

“There isn't anyone I wouldn't recommend this story to!”
