3 Winter Design Tips

Posted by Penny Mustard on Dec 10th 2020

This time of year, we love taking a little more time to make our homes really comfortable since we spend so much time there during the colder seasons. Take a look at some great tips that our magical designers have created to share!

INCREDIBLE COLOR TOOLS

Coordinating colors can be hard but there are so many great tools to help create an inspiration board!

For example, Adobe’s Color Wheel tool is ridiculously addicting. We’ve saved a cornucopia full of color schemes and it’s so much fun!

This is a wonderful starting place when you need some help putting colors together. In addition to creating the perfect pallet for a home redesign and picking out all the pillows for a sectional, this would be really fun for Christmas wrapping and Holiday party planning too!

DEEP SEATING AND LOUNGING SECTIONALS FOR THE WIN

This year, many of us opted out of the hubbub of Black Friday. Some of us were sad to not jump in the tradition of crowds and hunting for epic deals. Others of us were glad to stay in.

In either case, most of us have been poised to find great shopping deals online! With new deals coming out before, during, and after Cyber Monday, setting up space to snag the best deals is essential.

We have found that a great chaise sectional is amazing for the living room camp-out. Add in that really deep seat sectional, and you have a place you may never want to leave. Take away the removable loose-back cushions and you are practically on a twin mattress ready for a nap!

And even when the shopping is done, sectionals quickly convert to the perfect place to set up a stakeout to catch the Big Guy in the act!

INCORPORATING FUR IN YOUR DECOR

There’s so much impact with fur, and by fur, we opt for the faux options. They add texture, depth in color, and overall warmth to a room. We need all the warmth we can get here in the Midwest. Faux fur technology has certainly improved over the years, and you can get the look-guilt free with acrylic and polyester fibers.

If looking to add this additional texture to your home, start with something small like a pillow on a chair or a throw blanket. From there you can go with even bigger items such as rugs or footstools.

This is the best time of year to start incorporating extra layers of warmth with faux fur accents!
