Emily’s Favorite Pieces

To say our operations manager, Emily, is familiar with Penny Mustard furniture is like saying water is wet. Emily knows our sophisticrafted furniture inside and out! So, naturally, it’s difficult for her to select her favorite pieces from so many great options. But we finally persuaded Emily to narrow down her top picks for every room of the home.

Our eleven Penny Mustard showrooms are filled with the most sophisticrafted furniture you’ve ever seen, so it’s understandable to feel overwhelmed with so many options. We asked our operations manager, Emily, to choose a few of her favorite pieces. Here’s what she had to say:

Milo Collection: Living Room & Office

The style of the Milo Collection trends mid-century modern, but really, it goes with many styles. I have a boho-ish theme at home, and the 3-drawer TV stand was just the right piece for the space.

I love the mitered corners, and the drawers on the TV stand are huge. We packed so many puzzles and games in the drawers for the kids, and the wide space above fit a sound bar perfectly. The drawers are constructed with our amazing glides and thick bottoms, so I'm never worried about how much we store. I'm one of those people who likes having the house look like no one lives there, so storage is really important for my kids!

The bookcases come in 22" and 36" wide, and, because of the style, are able to snug right up to the tv stand if you want to create an entertainment wall unit, or they can run solo. The Milo Collection has its own unique drawer pull, but I did show the 36" size with a handle in our showrooms, and I've seen it ordered plenty that way too.

The desks are no exception to the 'grouping' capabilities. The size is smaller, so you can fit them anywhere and add on bookcases for more storage. Great for laptop users! It's on my wishlist because, while I don't work at home, I do take my laptop home, and it'd be perfect!

Envy Collection: Kane Table and Encore Chairs

I LOVE the Kane Table, our newest leg in our Envy dining line. It is SO elegant but not too formal. Combine with the Encore Chairs, and you have a stunning dining set.

The Encore Chairs have a gentle arch on the top and our sturdy construction. We show them with upholstered seats with our famous foam, so the comfort will outlast the competition.

With table top shape, apron, size, and wood/color options, the Envy dining is my go-to, and this set is my personal favorite. I might be biased, though, as it was the first dining set I had design input on and was able to get to the floors exactly how I envisioned.

Smith Brothers Collection: Sectional

If you want stationary living seating, this Smith Brothers sectional (sofa available too) is a deep-seater.

At a 25" seat depth alone, this sectional is perfect for cuddling up under a faux-furry blanket and enjoying the fireplace or taking a cat nap before your next event of the day.

Elran: Art Sectional in Leather

But, if you are movie lovers like my family is, you have to go with the Elran Art Sectional.

First, the configuration possibilities seem to be endless, so you're sure to find the right seating for your family and space. Second, the design is optionizable with different arm, seat back, and seat front options.

Elran's leather is amazing, so that would be my recommendation. Also, go with the power motion and power headrest – you won't regret those features for all of your movie-viewing!

Marshfield Furniture: Abigail Bed and Aristotle Collection

Rounding out the day, I'd have to land on the Abigail Upholstered Bed from Marshfield Furniture, and I'd pair it with the Aristotle case pieces.

The Abigail has a beautiful look, and Marshfield has so many wonderful fabric options to choose from. The Aristotle has the perfect dresser-top profile with subtle angles, and the drawer faces sit in front of the face frame, creating beautiful dimension. We show it in cherry wood with morel stain on it, and that makes a timeless look.

Honorable Mentions

And, because it's hard to stick to just a handful of favorites, I'd have to say these items are also on my list and shouldn't be missed as you go through our showrooms:

• Anabelle Tate: Branson Chair – WOW the angles! Stylish and comfy for a great accent chair.
• Auden Collection: Entertainment Center – It's a hot seller with a lot of storage, but open and airy so it doesn't look so big in your home.
• Briley Collection: Bed – Beautifully framed-out upholstered bed.
• County Line Collection: Vinny Table and Violet Chairs – A stunning combination. I've seen so many different colors and fabrics combined, it's really a versatile set.
