I’m Back Baby! ‘90s Inspired Interior Design Trends You will Love!

The ’90s are making a (maybe too soon) comeback!

On a recent, socially-distanced dash to a clothing store, one of our talented designers saw racks upon racks of ‘90s fashion. No, not ‘90s-inspired. We’re talking literal pieces she had in her closet with a different tag.

Is this how our parents felt when bell-bottoms made a comeback?

Knowing the fashion industry, we suspect interior design isn’t too far behind. (Though we do hope it’s a little more reimagined since ‘90s interiors left much to be desired). If you’re a child of the ‘90s searching for both furniture *and* nostalgia, here are some current looks that are ‘NSYNC with the designs of our youth. You won’t be saying “Bye Bye Bye” to these trends anytime soon. (See what we did there?)

BLONDE WOOD

Updated from highly lacquered to a more natural finish, light woods give a modern and airy feel to interiors. As overall health and well-being shifts indoors, a blonde wood finish gives a nod to the outdoors while pairing well with raw industrial looks.

WALLPAPER (YES, WE SAID IT)

We all had one… or we knew someone who had one: The classic wallpapered room.

Bathrooms with pastel blue and pink floral prints. Dining rooms with base paper, a chair rail paper strip, and different paper on top. Kitchens covered with chickens and other assorted farm animals. Wallpaper was EVERYWHERE.

Well, guess what? Wallpaper is back, baby! And it’s covering the walls of reno inspiration boards.

But, fear not. Manufacturers have heard the anguished wails of home renovators peeling off three different layers of wallpaper – sometimes in the same room! So they’re creating easy-to-remove wallpapers with fresh patterns such as modern florals and versatile farmhouse plank designs.

BLUSH AND SAGE

Hear us out.

It’s easy to automatically dismiss the old school combination of pastel pink and green. But take a look at these beautiful Blush and Sage colors. They’ve taken over their predecessor’s place on the pallet, and we are loving it!

Blush is a nude hue of pink that carries a more neutral tone. Sage is a dusty, less saturated version of its green ancestor.

This beautiful pairing of colors is perfectly showcased here. This hand-painted canvas gives the room a beautiful impact without being overwhelming. ‘90s-inspired watercolors is yet another emerging design trend.

What other designs will we see during our trip back in time? Keep an eye out for other reimagined trends from the good ol’ days. Because everything old IS new again.
